As usual you can click on the pic to embiggialize it.
When you do you shall find a photo of my new sled. It’s a 1989 Dodge Dakota pickup truck. Yea, it’s pretty Perry County looking but mechanically it’s is great shape. I have always liked pickups though I’ve never owned one until now. Come to think about it I have always preferred a functional vechicle over luxury. My first car was a 1966 Fiat 600D. It got about 900,000 miles to the gallon! I have owned innumerous VW bugs but my favorite over the years was my old ‘82 Vanagon Transporter. I loved that thing. I have owned Ford’s, Chevy’s, Honda’s, VW’s, Subaru’s and even a Suzuki Samurai for 11 years but this is my first MOPAR. We’ll see how it works out. Personally I’m psyched to have a pickup.
I’m having a bit of trouble with the Texas raid on the church FLDS that was carried out recently. It was initiated by a phone call to an child abuse hot line. The person who made the call and the claims of abuse has yet to be found. As a matter of fact it is believed to have been made by someone who does not live there nor attends this church. 416 children have been kidnapped by the state of Texas and removed from their parents. I am left with the feeling that there is an over zealous bureaucrat who either has some kind of grudge against this church or simply wishes to force her values on a group of people who don’t share it. Yes I said her because I believe this bureaucrat is Marleigh Meisner. She is referred to as a spokesman for the Texas Department of Children’s Protective Services but is nowhere identified as to what her position with CPS actually is.
I find it suspect that the Texas CPS Department seemed to be ready with their lawyers to bring charges against this church and its members. To me, this really reeks of we’re gonna’ get ‘cha despite what ever the facts may be.
In what appeared to me to be a show trial this past week the state argued that all the children under 18 years old should be kept by the state. They based their argument on the testimony of Bruce Perry. He is a psychologist who specializes in cults. The FLDS has been around for over a hundred years and now all of a sudden it’s a cult? I’m sorry but this just smells of an illegal witch hunt to me.
In going over this in my mind I keep going back the Branch Davidians in Waco back in the nineties. That church wasn’t ATF approved and they used the pretext of child abuse to attack them with tanks and eventually just executed them all. Now it seems that the FLDS isn’t approved by the state of Texas.
These people have been accused in the press of welfare fraud and if that is true then they should be investigated for that but they should not have their families torn apart for it.
This whole thing just smells of intolerance and a state government gone mad.
HERE is an blog that is reporting each and every update of this travesty.
Remember skate keys? How about telephone numbers that started with a word? Like KIngswood5-9443.
I was cleaning my office the other week and after removing the bottom drawers from my desk and cleaning out the whatnots that had fallen behind I came across a bunch of old bills and bank statements of the original owners of the house.
I also found this!!!
The date on it is July 23, 1971. It’s from the ARCO station on the corner of Union Deposit road and East Park drive. It use to be right across East Park drive from the Shell station that is now a Rite-Aid drug store.
With all that said can you believe they sold Hi-test gasoline for the outrageous price of 42.9 cents a gallon!!!
I can remember putting 75 cents worth of gas in my 1966 Fiat 600 and driving around all evening.
Ahhhh, the good old days!
Today is April 15, 2008.
Today is tax day.
All tax returns or extentions must be completed and mailed by midnight tonight.
I did mine last night. They took about two hours out of my life.
Last night I also received the following from a friend in an email. After reading it I went to the website listed and found it to be true so I wanted everyone who reads my blog to know the facts. All three of you.
After a focus group of democrats watched the democratic debate the other day in Vegas, …. For the most part, all of them bashed Bush over and over again on how he is out for his millionaire friends and the big oil companies and he has totally forgotten or disregarded the little guy. So an ex-IRS employee, decided to look back on the tax tables to see if there is any truth to what they said and the media keeps stating as fact, “Bush is only out for the rich in this country.” Based on using the actual tax tables here are some examples on what the taxes were/are on various amounts of income for both singles and married couples. So let’s see if the Bush tax cuts only helped the rich. www.taxfoundation.org
Taxes under the thumb of the Clintonistas 1999
Single making 30K – tax $8,400
Single making 50K – tax $14,000
Single making 75K – tax $23,250 S
Married making 60K – tax $16,800
Married making 75K – tax $21,000
Married making 125K – tax $38,750
Taxes under President Bush 2007 Single making 30K – tax $4,100
Single making 50K – tax $8,900
Single making 75K – tax $15,150
Married making 60K – tax $8,200
Married making 75K – tax $11,600
Married making 125K – tax $24,100
If you want to know just how effective the mainstream media is, it is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If any democrat is elected, ALL of them say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above can’t wait for it to happen. This is like in the movie The Sting with Paul Newman, you scam somebody out of some money and they don’t even know what happened. Now this is effective marketing or maybe a better word is brain washing.
Physicians:
(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
(Calculation) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171
Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health Human Services.
Now think about this:
Guns:
(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (Yes, that’s 80 million..)
(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
(Calculation) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188
Statistics courtesy of the FBI
So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember, ‘Guns don’t kill people, doctors do.’
FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!
Out of concern for the public at large, I withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention
A week from this coming Tuesday is our presidential primary day. Here in Pennsylvania we have a closed primary vote. What that means is that you can only vote within your party. I have been a registered demoncrat since I was 18 years old so I get to choose between B. Hussein Oh-bomber and Billary Rodham-Rodham, the queen of the Clintonistas.
All of the candidates have been running TV and radio spots trying to convince us that they are the only ones who can do the job properly. The ads are pretty funny. Billary is running one that is attempting to tell us she’s from Scranton because some great-great-great-great grandfather once removed then divorced then disowned once lived there and then we’re supposed to believe she spent summers there without electricity and indoor plumbing but she loved it because she’s one of the little people. This from the Yale educated, Connecticut raised woman whose tax returns show she made 190 million dollar bills in the past 8 years and whose only contribution to charity was to the Clinton foundation. I guess that means I can deduct the amount I’m going to spend on a new fridge as a contribution to the Brianf foundation.
On the other hand B. Hussein Oh-bomber is trying to tell us that during the 20 minutes he’s been a US senator he’s fought against everything and is responsible for all legislation. He is also going on and on about taxing companies to the hilt and giving away even more money to the so-called poor. So let’s see, under his presidency gas will be $37.50 a pint and a pound of pasta noodles will cost $55 because all companies will be taxed to death but that’ll be OK because we’ll all be equally poor and the gub’mint will give us all food stamps and welfare checks.
Whichever one wins the party endorsement will get to campaign against John McCain.
I’m going to vote for Billary Rodham-Rodham, the queen of the Clintonistas and I’ll tell you why.
You see when the demoncrat national convention comes around this summer I fully expect Billary and B. Hussein will still be neck and neck in the race and the demoncrats will explode in so far as all the Oh-bomber supporters will defect if the Clintonistas win the party’s nomination and visa-versa for the Clintonistas supporters. No matter which one wins the party’s nomination about ½ of the demoncrats base will be disaffected and John (I never met a bill that takes away our rights I didn’t like) McCain will win and we’ll all be screwed anyway.
Too bad Ron Paul didn’t make a better showing. He is the only one who makes any sense.
