What’s so hard to believe?

Why do people find this so hard to believe?
Kasper Gutman, Joel Cairo, Samuel Spade, Wilmer Cook as well as Miss Brigid O’Shaughnessy are all long gone and buried.
Too bad about Miss O’Shaughnessy. She was a looker, alright!
In 1539, the Knight Templars of Malta, paid tribute to Charles V of Spain, by sending him a Golden Falcon encrusted from beak to claw with rarest jewels—–but pirates seized the galley carrying this priceless token and the fate of the Maltese Falcon remains a mystery to this day. At some point in its history It gained a covering of black enamel.
