Teaching
October 20th, 2007This past week was a long week. Don’t get me wrong, I had a great class. They were highly intelligent and motivated. The course material is interesting and from the feedback I got from my class, I made it fun. I met some really great people and I was motivated to re-learn ASL. You see, I had two deaf students and my inability to communicate directly with them was a bit frustrating for me. Now we had interpreters there for them so it wasn’t like they didn’t learn anything. It was just that I was frustrated in not being able to speak directly to them.
The class ran from 0900 until 1630 every day, so it wasn’t overly long but for some reason this week took a lot out of me. Maybe it was the four and a half hour drive home in the pouring rain. Did I say pouring rain, no; I mean driving, pouring, buckets, monsoon-style, lots-O-rain. I drove the four plus hours of this monsoon on the PA Turnpike all the while listening to Big Leg Emma. They’re my current favorite band.
I got home around 2100 and decided to decompress. In other words I poured myself a small glass of Titos Hand Made Vodka, ordered a Marino’s Extra Special Stromboli and turned on the TV. Videits of the world unite! Ha! Of all things I decided to watch, “The Commitments”. The flick and the inactivity didn’t sit well with me so I jumped into my car and went down the Legion. Probably because I haven’t been there in so long, it was too too fun. Shannon, the Tarbender, gave me a hug and a kiss and as I sat down I had three drink chips in front of me. I got the chance to catch up with a bunch of folks I haven’t seen in awhile and I laughed and joked with a bunch of people. I was home by 2330.
So today, I awake at 0630 and Boy, you talk about a low energy day. This kid barely got all my errands and shopping done before coming home and having a late lunch (1630) and promptly falling asleep on the couch. Ha! Sorry Jim! Sorry Linda!
I really wanted to stop up and say, hey! Maybe next weekend.
Anyways, I got all my running around and errands completed today, albeit in second gear and I took a nap so in my book it was a good day.
So tonight I have the ALCS game 6 on the Videit box and am finishing up my laundry and in a bit I’m going to have yet another glass of Tito’s.
So there you have it, no great political diatribe. No great musings on the state of the world. No great in depth insight into the human condition but just a glimpse into my world.
Big smiles and a roomful of Daisies to anyone who may read this.
Some day I may do a post about Daisies.
