Claudia Taylor Johnson 1912 – 2007
Claudia was born in Carnac Texas in 1912. She was one of the last, if not the last true genteel southern ladies. She was an environmentalist before that word entered the lexicon. Though I didn’t think much of her husband she was always interested in both the children of the country as well as the environment. Far from being a radical she worked well into this decade to fight illiteracy and to help keep a lot of Texas range land just that. She was given the nickname Lady Bird in her youth. It is said she hated it.
To our former First Lady, Lady Bird Johnson, Rest In Peace

Indeed. Here’s to her. She was a very strong and supportive wife during the Vietnam war. Apparently she described the first year in the Whitehouse as al “wine and roses” but the latter years “pure hell.”
She blazed a fantastic environmental trail with her highway wildflowers program too. That’s a beautiful legacy to leave behind.
Yeah Sam, You’re right.. Maybe we’re the only ones who know. Thanks for your comment. The world is a bit less today with her passing. I can only hope we have learned something from her life.
Huzzah, Lady Bird!
Rest in peace Lady Bird Johnson.
